Highlands, 2008

Nancy, Lawson, and Lawson's friend Drew took a trip to Highlands, NC for five days. They got all the goodie out of the trip. They saw all the waterfalls they could find, took two trips to Sliding Rock, went rafting down the Tuckaseegee River, painted rocks, mined for gemstones, climbed trees, and generally had a good time.

Lawson On the Wakeboard

The Remlers spent July 4th in the Carolina Skiff pulling the tube and the wakeboard. Lawson impressed us all with his water sports skills. We also had fun with Pop Pop's boat, which pulled the kids on the new tube. This kind of fun is better than fire works any day.

Bowling Bash 2008: More Fun than Laverne and Shirley

For a belated birthday celebration, Nancy and six of her most fun friends met at the Victory Lanes for a night of bowling and general silliness. Who would have thought that all seven women would be available on the same night on such short notice? Who would have thought they'd be willing to wear paper party hats for three hours? Who would have thought that Lori could bowl a 13 pound ball? Who would have thought that Nancy could score three strikes in one game? Who would have thought that cupcakes could be so delicious with pizza? Who would have thought that Michelle and Kalenda were actually professional bowlers in disguise? Who would have thought that seven professional women would assume alter egos like Frenchie, Hotpants and Striker? David Thompson was right. That was a lucky bowling shirt.

Nancy Turns 42

This year for Nancy's birthday the Remlers decided to maintain a tradition: a trip in the boat to dinner. As usual, the excursion was not without its mishaps (although this year's mishap was not as extreme as getting caught in a neap tide after dark). The Grady White's engine ran hot. Fortunately, we were close enough to the dock to turn around. We transferred to the Hydra-Sports, and all was well. The venue this year was A.J.'s on Tybee. The food was delicous; the sun was bright. After dinner we returned to Sapphire Island Road for Stephen's home-made chocolate raspberry rum cake. Yum!

Sanibel, 2008

The Remlers went back to the Florida's Gulf coast for a week of fun and relaxation. From shelling, fishing, biking, kayaking, swimming, eating and betting at crab races, we did it all. The weather was wonderful. In fact, we were a little disappointed at not having a tropical storm this year. Nevertheless, we found some beautiful shells and came home happy.
